It has been 23 days since West Ham United and Jack Wilshere agreed to terminate their contract on deadline day. Since then, the former England international and Arsenal star has been looking for a club. “La Liga, Italy or Germany would be a nice change for me,” the 28-year-old midfielder told Sky Sports.

As Wilshere had terminated his contract on deadline day, he can still sign for a new club as a free agent before the next transfer window opens. According to reports, he earned around €6 million gross per season at the Hammers.

Wilshere: "Still feel like I can do it and I want to prove everyone wrong"

With a current market value of €4.8 million, the Englishman, who has been regularly suffering from injuries in recent years, is one of the most valuable players without a club in the world, but also at his lowest personal level since 2010. During his move from Arsenal to West Ham in the summer of 2018, his value was still set at €20 million.

“I just want to play games - I want to get back to playing 25-30 games a season, when you can really get your confidence back and a smile on your face,” Wilshere says. In his two years at West Ham, he only played a total of 837 minutes in the league and cup. “I still feel like I can do it and I want to prove everyone wrong,” the midfielder continues.

Wilshere left West Ham, not because he had problems with the head coach or the players: “I was probably getting to that point, if I had stayed another year, where it would have been really tough mentally to come back from (…) I couldn’t spend another year not playing, especially at my age,” he explained his departure.

MLS move a possibility for Wilshere: “There’s been a big improvement”

The 28-year-old has contact with his advisor “every couple of days. There’s been a few things that have come up and we’re still talking about it, but I’m not going to put a time on it because I want to make sure it’s right.” In his 12-year career as a professional footballer, Wilshere only played for English clubs. A transfer to the MLS is also an for option him, although no players can be added to the rosters after October 29 and until the MLS Cup final: “I don’t think I’m too young for the MLS. It’s on Sky Sports, I think there’s been a big improvement in that league. If the right opportunity came up I’d be open to it.”
