Fortuna Düsseldorf’s Morales set for MLS move - No free transfer despite expiring contract

Three months before his contract expires, Alfredo Morales is about to leave Düsseldorf. The German second-division club announced that the 30-year-old is in promising negotiations about a move to MLS. On the plus side for Fortuna, it would be a transfer for which a fee would have to be paid, according to the club’s account.

Morales did not take part in team training on Tuesday because of ongoing talks. The 16-time US international had joined Fortuna from FC Ingolstadt 04 in the summer of 2018 and has made 74 appearances (two goals) for the Düsseldorf side so far.
