D.C. United want Arriola replacement Estrada - Forward arrives from Toluca

Major League Soccer side D.C. United appear to have found a replacement for Paul Arriola, who has been traded to FC Dallas earlier on Wednesday. According to reports by well-informed South American transfer expert Cesar Luis Merlo and the very reliable Washington Post reporter Steven Goff, D.C. United are in advanced negotiations with Toluca to sign Ecuadorian forward Michael Estrada on loan with an option to buy.

 

Although not a one-to-one replacement for Arriola, Estrada would certainly has the potential to fill the productive void left by the US men's national team star. Furthermore, Estrada would be a perfect replacement for Ola Kamara, who is currently being shopped by the club.

The 25-year-old Ecuadorian national team player might have struggled in Liga MX, no goals in 16 appearances for Toluca this season. But the striker has scored 17 goals in 66 games for Toluca overall and has been productive for Ecuador (seven goals in 27 games) and his previous club Independiente del Valle (20 goals in 61 games).
